Dr. James M. Peery, Jr. is originally from the small, southwest Virginia town of Cedar Bluff. He attended the prestigious Hampden-Sydney College to earn his undergraduate degree and then continued his education by successfully pursuing a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Peery then completed a hospital based general practice residency at the University of Virginia where he went on to become Chief Resident. The department was so impressed with Dr. Peery that they asked him to return and work as part of their faculty which he gladly accepted. He worked for three years prior to relocating in private practice to Lynchburg, Va in 1980. He's remained in the area ever since! Dr. Peery initially started in the downtown area, but as the practice grew, he moved to an office on Langhorne road before finally moving to the current location on Murrell Rd. The doctor is proud to have his son, Dr. James M. Peery III, working by his side; he joined the practice in 2013. Dr. Peery loves his career because he appreciates the time he gets to spend meeting interesting people and helping them maintain excellent dental health.
Dr. James. M. Peery, Jr. is a member of several organizations. He's an active participant of St. John's Church and a former board member of “Lynchburg Daily Bread.” He's also a former President of the Lynchburg Dental Society. Dr. Peery is a member of the American Dental Association and the Rotary Club as well. Dr. Peery was awarded the Dr. Joseph A. Levine Dental Service Award from the free clinic in central Virginia. One of his most treasured accomplishments was when he was honored with the “Boss of the Year” designation by the Lynchburg Dental Assistants Society.
Dr. Peery was wed to his beautiful wife, Doris, in 1978. The couple has three adult sons, Jonathan, James, and Hadyn. When Dr. Peery isn't at the office, he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren. He also takes pleasure in playing golf, travelling, and reading an interesting book.
James M. Peery III is the other half of this dynamic father-son dentistry duo. He was born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia, and he graduated from E.C. Glass High School. He's followed an unconventional educational path to dentistry. He received his Bachelor's of Science degree in aviation in only three years from Ohio University.
After working as a pilot to both instruct others and fly corporate aircrafts, Dr. Peery returned to school, despite being unsure what path he should follow. He helped out his father, James M. Peery, Jr., by assisting at his dental practice, and this helped him quickly realize his calling. He achieved his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He then followed his father's footsteps again to residency at the University of Virginia, and earned the title and responsibilities of Chief Resident. After his residency, he covered for a friend of his in Richmond, who had fallen ill and remained that way for a year.
Dr. Peery now works with his father at Peery Family Dentistry. He enjoys dentistry because it's a fun environment where it's possible to help people. Dr. Peery is a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, The Lynchburg Morning Rotary Club and the American Dental Association. He is currently serving on the executive committee of the Lynchburg Dental Society. He enjoys performing charity work at the free clinic of central Virginia and serving on mission trips to such locations as Belize, Honduras and Southwest Virginia.
In his spare time, Dr. Peery likes to fly, hike, and camp. When the weather permits, he also enjoys skiing and playing golf.

Samuel E. Woolwine, III is from Salem, Virginia. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with his Bachelor of Science in Biology from James Madison University. He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Virginia Commonwealth University.
He was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a National Dental Honor Society where membership is limited to dental students who have shown excellence in scholarship, character and professional growth. He enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children. He especially likes wakeboarding and volleyball.
